In some industries it’s common to travel between jobs or work locations.
Most awards and agreements will include a vehicle or travel allowance for employees who are required to use their own vehicle.
For example, under the Cleaning Award employees who use their own car get $0.80 per kilometre (or $0.27 if they’re using their own motorcycle) to get from one job to the next.
Employees under the Cleaning Award must be paid for the time they spend driving from one work location to another including applicable shift penalties and overtime rates for the time they’re working.
Make sure you know how you should be paying employees for travel costs and time.
