protections claims not involving dismissal also increased
substantially, up 12.5% from 779 to 879.
Spot checks for 250 Queensland businesses
The Fair Work Ombudsman will audit up to 250 businesses in

Baiada to pay $500,000 to contractors

Lifestyle SA fined $196k for underpaying staff
An Adelaide company has been fined $196,000 for
underpaying 46 of its employees more than $2.5 million.
$10k in fines for underpaying worker
More than $10,000 in fines have been imposed after an ugg
boot retailer paid an overseas worker in Sydney just $8 an
hour. The Fair Work Ombudsman took legal action after the
employee lodged a request for assistance. The employee was
subsequently back-paid in full.
Melbourne 7-Eleven latest to face court for breaching employment laws
A Melbourne 7-Eleven store operator is the latest to face court
for allegedly breaching employment laws. Last financial year the
Fair Work Ombudsman filed two litigations against 7-Eleven stores
and entered into an Enforceable Undertaking with a third. In
addition, Fair Work inspectors issued three Compliance Notices, 13
Infringement Notices (on-the-spot fines) and 16 Letters of Caution
to 7-Eleven store operators.
