Further to our previous communications, Better HR lawyer, Grace Kim attended the National Workplace Sexual Harassment Inquiry conducted by the Human Rights Commission to promote the interests of clients and their views.
Various organisations were present to discuss the issue of sexual harassment in the workplace. The key points discussed were the drivers of sexual harassment, preventative measures to prevent sexual harassment, current and existing practices of employers, particularly those considered SME’s, and whether the current frameworks were effective.

Grace highlighted to the Commissioner the difficulties faced by businesses, in balancing between running a business and fulfilling legislative obligations. Further, Grace discussed the importance of training and the provision of resources in assisting businesses to prevent and manage sexual harassment in the workplace, and how the Human Rights Commission could assist in that process.
Better HR will continue to take part and ensure client’s views are appropriately advocated.
