Better HR is a proud supporter of Ronald McDonald House Westmead.
Ronald McDonald House Westmead (RMHW) was established in 1986 and has since provided a warm and friendly home away from home for almost 12,000 families with seriously ill children receiving treatment at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
By staying at RMHW, families remain connected, and parents and carers can better communicate with their child’s medical teams. Families can give each other the moral and emotional support needed to get through their child’s illness. They can form relationships with other parents going through the same or similar experiences, and with staff and volunteers who provide support throughout their stay.
The original House at Westmead had 18 rooms, plus 5 units, accomodating 109 people per night. Sadly in 2017, more than 400 families had to be turned away with the House at capacity.
In February 2018, the doors to a new, larger 60-room House opened with space to accommodate 1,360 families per year – turning away families is now a thing of the past.
