Mike and Jan Becker launched Becker Helicopter Services in 1995 in a rundown tin shed using an old grass airport at Noosa. But it wasn’t the facilities that mattered – it was the quality of training and the passion to make an aviation difference that has fuelled success. The business is now an internationally recognised training facility and exporter employing 70 people and operating 18 helicopters. The pilot academy trains civilian and military personnel from basic helicopter pilot skills through to advanced mountain flying. Being the first civilian helicopter training academy to offer Advanced Night Vision Goggles training, which had previously been the domain of military aviators, has been critical to securing multi-million dollar international contracts. This husband and wife pilot team use applications like Google Earth and satellite tracking to hone training techniques and enhance learning experiences. Their Mike Becker Helicopter Flight Training Manuals and DVD’s are sold worldwide, with new products in development.
